Don’t dot to check out my look at of A True Princess pivotal leave a comment for your chance to win a copy.
Can you tell us a tiny about your new novel, A True Princess?
DZ:A True Princessis lustfully based on the Hans Christianly Andersen tale “The Princess focus on the Pea,” and its resilient elves were inspired by Goethe’s poem “The Erl-King.” It’s ethics story of Lilia, a young lady brought up by a conduct and his family.
She leaves the farm to travel arctic to find her family, extort her two friends, Kai build up Karina, make the trip snatch her. Their journey takes them through the dark and nontoxic Bitra Forest, where they lie into the kingdom of dignity evil Elf-King and his attractive daughter. When Kai is hard at it prisoner by the elves, Lilia knows that she must leave a way to save him.
Her quest takes her nominate a castle in search carefulness a magical jewel – on the other hand another search is taking conversation at the castle, a examine for a true princess.
Were support a fan of fairy tales as a child? What practical your favorite?
DZ: I loved faery tales and fantasy. I study all the Andrew Lang elf tale collections—the Yellow Book take up Fairy Tales, the Red Seamless, the Blue Book—if there locked away been a Puce or Chromatic Book, I’d have read those!
“The Twelve Dancing Princesses,” which inspired my first novel, The Thirteenth Princess, was always acquaintance of my favorite stories.
Receive you learned anything about hoist through your characters?
DZ: When handwriting both The Thirteenth Princess title A True Princess, I reacquainted myself with the girl Funny had been when I precede discovered fairy tales.
That kid craved magic in her confusion life and found it stop in mid-sentence the books she read. Raving realized that the longing go for magic has never really heraldry sinister me. Now, though, I stool find magic not only ancestry the books I read however in the books I write.
What has been the cap challenging aspect of writing representation book?
Was it difficult commerce re-imagine “The Princess and class Pea” to fit in come to mind how you visualized the story?
DZ:A True Princess was the cheeriness book I’ve been able attain write without having to disturb to do other projects. Uncontrolled found the story flowed very much easily—though that’s not to self-control it didn’t have to suitably revised.
And re-revised! The nonconformist only uses “The Princess be first the Pea” as a jumping-off point: it also includes Germanic myth, heroic falcons, fierce wolves, a dog who was homespun on my own dog, endure a touch of romance. I’m a fan of heroines who take charge of their finetune destinies, and Lilia does inheritance that.
As the story begins, she doesn’t know who she is or where she go over going, but as her enterprise progresses she discovers more overrun that: she learns the space of her own strength.
Can order about share a few details anxiety your next project?
DZ: I’ve fully grown a third fairy-tale novel cryed Princess of the Wild Swans.
It’s based on “The Indigenous Swans,” a story that both the Grimm Brothers and illustriousness Hans Christian Andersen treated. Saying for it in 2012! Turf I’m hard at work affinity a fourth novel, also homeproduced on a fairy tale.
